Eastern Bloc and CKUT are teaming up for a novel radio project, dedicated to emerging artistic practices, with special attention to those occurring on the Montreal digital arts scene. Eliane Ellbogen, Eastern Bloc’s artistic director, and Martin Rodriguez, Eastern Bloc’s lab and technical coordinator, will co-host the show with a rotation of local and international artists.
Entitled “PirateBlocRadio”, this monthly program will be broadcast on the first Thursday of each month, between 8:00PM and 9:00PM. It is intended to reach both the artistic community and local neophytes, and will provide free and easy access to emerging digital practices in Montreal and its surroundings. General topics will be addressed in depth, such as the artistic issues related to these practices and their increasing presence in our society, as well as more specific questions. PirateBlocRadio will also be an opportunity to inform the general public about local digital arts events, particularly those regularly offered by Eastern Bloc. The programming will allow artists to speak and intervene freely.
Through a diverse programming including reviews, cultural calendars, interviews and discussions with artists and cultural practitioners from the world of digital arts, PirateBlocRadio seeks to explore the scope of artistic creation located at the intersection of art, science and technology. As such, the show aims to encourage local emerging artists as well as support and promote their work on the Montreal arts scene.
