Eastern Bloc is currently developing its workshop programming for the 2016-2017 season and in doing so we would like to create an open call for proposals. We are interested in hosting workshops that encourage the exploration of art, science, and technology to create literacy, critical discussion, artistic expression, and community engagement. Specifically, we are interested in artists or technologists who offer workshops that are unique to their artistic practice or work. Please provide:

  • A description of your workshop (max 300 words)
  • Preliminary Budget
  • Your bio (max 150 words)
  • CV
  • Photo or video documentation

Please submit your proposals to lab@easternbloc.ca by June 6th 2016 . As a workshop instructor you will be paid based on the the standard rates provided by the CQAM.

For its sixth consecutive year, the Data : Salon series invites current and potential members of Eastern Bloc to present a recent project or work-in-progress. From September 2015 to June 2016, the seasonal events, informal and open in nature, allow for direct and immediate feedback with the public. Participating artists are given access to the centre’s exhibition space, our technical resources, the team’s expertise and a range of documentation services and marketing tools. Please submit your proposals in the field of New Media (audio/video installation, A/V performance, sound performance, interactive practices) throughout the 2015 – 2016 season.

Participating artists will receive:

  • A free yearly membership to the centre
  • A participation honorarium
  • 4 hours of technical assistance for the installation of the project in gallery
  • An orientation session with one or more members of the administrative team about grants available to emerging artists
  • Photo and video documentation of the project (including a short interview with the artist)

  • Maximum of 10 images and/or 3 audio/video excerpts
